FRENCH BREAD, YEAST ROLLS & GNOCCHI!
Gnocchi is a pasta made from not flour and eggs, but…wait for it….potatoes! Gnocchi is wonderful, light, fluffy and delicious as well as being a unique alternative to plain old pasta! My homemade gnocchi is sure to knock your socks off when you include it in any dish, but it is especially good in soups and stews. Homemade gnocchi is so much better tasting than store-bought and without the preservatives! A definite win-win! Gnocchi is also a lower-gluten choice compared to pasta. Try some this week and fall in love!
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls! Lovely, cinnamon goodness rolled and smothered in a sweet icing; available by the dozen or half dozen!
Rosemary Bread, a savory round loaf full of herbs, with a fine, soft texture and utterly delicious! I will be adding more bread over the next few weeks, so be sure to check in and see what is new! Republican Valley Produce:  The market is OPEN......

I am sorry I am slow to get the market open this week. Between forgetting to and loosing internet, I am just late. It looks to be a very nice week ahead of us. The only problem is I don’t have many greens to sell. We have lots of roots, but I have picked the greens down to very low levels. I am hoping a week of sun, warmth and water, they will start making a quick growth spurt. We will be reaching that critical “10” hours of sunlight very soon and when that happens growth really starts to pick up.

I will leave the market open until Sunday at 10 pm.

Thanks,

Jay

Northeast Georgia Locally Grown:  Locally Grown - Availability for January 23rd, 2015

Hey Local Food Lovers,

As cold weather sets in a bit this week, consider getting some Locally Grown specialties to warm and cure your body. Here’s some quick tips:

The Herb Cottage Garden has some Cold & Congestion Fighting Herbal Chest Oil. I’m about to use some right now.

Jumpin Goat has about 6 different varieties of locally roasted COFFEE some in whole bean some in ground.

Apparently eating lots of garlic is good for a cold. And we have LOTS of GARLIC.

I don’t know much about the HOT CHOCOLATE ON A STICK-VARIETY PACK from Leslie’s Garden Dream, but it’s got to be good right?

A glass of tea with some good local honey from PURE MOUNTAIN HONEY is probably my favorite night time soother.

And if all that fails and your still feeling a bit cold and dreary, get yourself a bottle of BLOODY MARY MIX from the VEGGIE PATCH and add some other specialty ingredients and that ought to the do the trick.

Thanks for supporting and enjoying LOCAL FOODS.

and EAT, DRINK and in every other conceivable way LIVE WELL!

Justin, Chuck, Teri and Andrew

Old99Farm Market:  Old 99 Farm, week of Jan 25 2015

Hi, surprised to be hearing from me on a friday evening? Next week I’ll be going to the Guelph Organic Conference on Thurs through Sunday. If want to go with us, we can carpool for up to 4 people.

I’d like to have the market here on Wednesday evening, usual 4 to 6. If you would prefer to pick up at a different time, I can make arrangements, like leaving your order in the cooler in the store.

My grain mill is now back in service so i will be able to offer wyw milled whole wheat and spelt flours.

Does anyone on on this list already belong to the Ontario Natural Foods Coop as a buying club member? I’m thinking this could be interesting to create a club based here so you can pick up what you buy through ONFC at the same time as you come to the farm.
If you are interested in joining, or already are a member, pleased drop me a line via email. There is no charge for membership.
